This time, we bring a shorter post than usual, but we hope it will be of great help to all those who used to use the Mixamo Control Rig add-on in Blender to animate their characters in previous versions.

And is that from version 4 of Blender the plugin is no longer supported by Adobe. But, do not panic, thanks to the excellent community behind Blender, we can still continue to use it. Looking for information about it, we have stumbled upon this great video that explains the whole process; and thanks to that, we share the images of our experience testing how it works.

Testing the Mixamo Blender 4 add-on

Downloading the add-on

We download the plugin from the URL: Mixamo Blender 4, choosing the zip file.

Installation and activation

We install and activate the plugin in Blender 4.0, just as we did with the official plugin.

Character import

We download a character from Mixamo and import it into Blender 4.0.

Mixamo Control Rig add-on options in Blender 4

From the Viewport, press the N key to display the sidebar. There we will find available (as with the original add-on), the Mixamo tab with its drop-down options.

Creating Control Rig

Clicking on the Create Control Rig option will automatically add all the controls needed to customize our animations.

And that’s it! Many thanks to CGDive for sharing such valuable information, as well as to Xin for making it possible. As always, we hope this information will be useful, and that in this way we can contribute to reach more people.

Thanks for reading, see you next time!
