Last April 17, 2024 took place the Nintendo Indie World Showcase, an event whose purpose was to unveil the variety of indie games coming soon to the Nintendo Switch. One of the most anticipated announcements of the event was Hollow Knight: Silksong, and although the expected release was not announced, it is worth taking a look at the most outstanding titles:

Little Kitty, Big City

Adventure developed by Double Dagger Studio where the protagonist is a curious kitten that explores the city, interacting with other animals and completing missions while looking for the way back home. In addition, the game allows customization of the kitty with a variety of hats. This game will be available from May 9.

Yars Rising

Presented by WayForward and Atari, it is an exciting 2D action game that immerses players in an intergalactic conspiracy. In this title, players assume the role of Emi Kimura, a skilled hacker tasked with unmasking the dark secrets of the QoTech corporation.

Inspired by the Atari classic, Yars’ Revenge, Yars Rising offers gameplay that evokes the essence of Mega Man. Players will be able to run, jump, stealth and hack as they take on robotic and alien enemies, unraveling a complicated secret full of intrigue. The game is expected to be released in 2024.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate

It’s a thrilling adventure that takes the plucky ninja turtles through reality-warping portals on a mission to rescue their master, Splinter. This game, available in July, marks the Ninja Turtles’ first foray into the roguelike genre, with each of the turtles possessing distinct abilities, adding strategic depth to the game and making it a perfect choice for online co-op play.

Europa

Developed over more than six years, this game stands out for its impressive art style; inspired by watercolor paintings. Set in a fantastic world, it offers expansive and diverse landscapes inhabited by a variety of animals and creatures. Players will enjoy a meditative experience while exploring this vast world, using different mobility options to immerse themselves in its unique atmosphere. Its release date is not yet known, but it is presumed to be sometime this year.

Refind Self: The Personality Test Game

It is, in our opinion, a fascinating introspective proposal presented at Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase. In this game, players assume the role of an android created by a teacher in her last moments of life. Each decision made during the game shapes the player’s personality (with a total of 23 different personalities). Players can compare their personality with that of other participants, further enriching the experience.

Refind Self: The Personality Test Game will be available in mid-2024.

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes

One of the games that has attracted our attention the most, both for its visual aspect as well as for its more than 100 puzzles. An exciting narrative adventure with a noir touch, this is the new proposal from the creators of Sayonara Wild Hearts. In this game, the world is presented mostly in black and white, with flashes of red that stand out at key moments. In addition to its distinctive aesthetic, the game incorporates supernatural elements and a mysterious backdrop.

Developed by Simogo and Annapurna Interactive, Lorelei and the Laser Eyes promises to keep players on their toes as they try to decipher its riddles. This game will arrive on Nintendo Switch on May 16.

SteamWorld Heist II

Final announcement of the Nintendo event, closing with a flourish. This sequel promises to maintain the 2D tactical combat that characterizes the franchise, while introducing exciting new features.

Players will be able to recruit a wide variety of robots and customize them with a new class system and more than 150 different weapons. With unique physics systems and abilities for each character, it combines elements of shooting and turn-based strategy.

SteamWorld Heist II will be available on August 8.

The games mentioned here represent our selection of the most outstanding ones. However, if you wish to enjoy the entire event, we leave you the link to Nintendo of America’s broadcast.
